 Ghost Ship – Sturgeon Bay 
The U.S. Coast Guard once again presents its Ghost Ship, for the 38th year this year. During this event, guests will be ushered through various haunted rooms on the barge — the tug is not available this year. Free Halloween treats and hot chocolate will be available.

The Ghost Ship will be open Friday. Times are from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for a “lights on” haunt for younger children, 6:45 to 10 p.m. “lights off” for older kids and adults. The boat will be docked at Sawyer Park Pier, just south of the Maple-Oregon Bridge in Sturgeon Bay. Admission is free, although donations of nonperishable food items for local food banks are appreciated. For more information, call 920-743-2646.

At the Forestville branch, 123 S. Forestville Ave., the every-Friday “Stories & Fun” stories and crafts activity for young children and their families takes on a Halloween theme at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 26, 2018

Those attending are encouraged to wear costumes as they hear slightly scary Halloween stories and create related crafts during a short Halloween party. For more information, call 920-856-6886.

Festival runs through Sunday the 28th
This festival puts the “eek!” in Fish Creek! A true, hometown Halloween festival, Jack O’ Lantern Days will entertain little witches and goblins of all ages. Highlights include a festive costume contest, town hall games, town-wide trick-or-treating, a costume parade, mask making and so much more!  Thrills on Third – Sturgeon Bay   

Ghosts, witches, zombies- oh my! Watch out for the spooky characters you may come across during the 7th annual Thrills on Third event happening throughout the historic Third Avenue in Sturgeon Bay on Saturday, October 27. The fun filled day begins at 9am where there will be plenty of family-friendly activities.

FUN & SPOOKY HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES

Head over to the Boys and Girls Club of Door County from 9-11am where they will be hosting a free pumpkin painting activity.

Kids are welcome to paint and decorate pumpkins on a first-come, first-served basis. Over a hundred small-medium sized pumpkins will be provided and sponsored by Artists Guild.

Participants are encouraged to bring a canned good for donation. The decorated pumpkins will be placed along the parade route until 3pm. Also taking place at the Boys and Girls Club of Door County is their spine-chilling haunted house.

Walk through the haunted house from 10am-1pm. Beginning at 11am, the Boys and Girls Club will be grilling and selling hot dogs, hamburgers, lemonade, chips, and popcorn.

Don’t forget to get your hands dirty in an ooey gooey slime making session at the Door County Library any time from 9am-12pm.

COSTUME PARADE

Parade participants should gather at Martin Park, 207 S. Third Avenue, at 12:45pm for costume judging. The costume parade is open to all, including pets. Floats are not permitted.

At 1pm, all participants will march down Third Avenue to Community Foundation Square, at the corner of Third Ave. and Kentucky St. Awards for first, second, and third place best costumes will be awarded by Miss Door County’s Outstanding Teen, Ashley Ellefson. A prize for the best pet costume will also be awarded.

After the parade, participants are encouraged to walk along Third Avenue to take part in trick-or-treating at participating businesses until 3pm.

9am-12pm (Noon) in the Basement
For kids age 12 and younger to create (and take home) a handful of slithery SLIME!
A craft table, instructions and supplies will be available in the basement of the library. Beth, the children’s librarian, will be on hand to assist, but parents are encouraged to supervise their children.  Visit doorcountylibrary.org for more information.

The Boys and Girls Club of Door County is excited to be a part of Thrills on Third again this year! We have some great activities planned for the whole family!

Fish Creek – Great Pumpkin Lighting (6pm)
Also in Fish Creek this weekend, Hands On Art Studio, 3655 Peninsula Players Road, hosts its annual Great Pumpkin Lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Dozens of pumpkins will be gutted starting Thursday and carved into jack o’lanterns starting Friday by volunteer artists. Saturday, the pumpkins will be moved to an outdoor display and stacked on scaffolds, then lit in an evening ceremony that offers glowing, spooky fun, along with some pretty cool artwork.

Volunteers are needed for all phases of the pumpkin work; pumpkin gutters must be able to use a power drill as well as scrape out the innards. All volunteers receive a free Hands On art pass ($5 value) and food and beverages during their shifts.

Pre-gutted pumpkins will be for sale to the public for $5 each. They must remain at Hands On through the lighting but can be picked up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Children can trick-or-treat at more than 30 participating businesses in the village, which will be indicated by “Happy Halloween” signs in their windows. One of those businesses, Wood Orchard Market, 8112 State 42, also will have games and activities.
