Door County Public Health in partnership with Door County Sheriff’s Department, Door County Cradle to Career, UW-Extension and the Door County Partnership for Children and Families held the 2nd Annual Safe Kids Door County Day event at the Jon Miles Park (Door County Fairgrounds) in Sturgeon Bay, WI on Saturday, August 18, 2018.

Many new booths were added this year including Door County Silent Sports Alliance who provided free bike helmets and fittings, the Door County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, Door County Soil & Water interactive groundwater display, Sturgeon Bay Utilities interactive Power Town display, Door County Humane Society, and many more.

Another new addition this year was the Emergency Fun Day vehicles. Rather than having a separate event the two venues were merged into one offering families an opportunity to get hands on experience with several area emergency vehicles, putting out a real fire with an extinguisher and testing their skills at using the fire hose to extinguish a simulated house fire.

Attendance was slightly up over last year and we are hopeful to continue to grow the event and attendance with each new annual event. For information regarding booth participation and / or volunteering for this wonderful event next year, please contact the Door County Public Health Department at 920-746-2234.

Special thank you to our prize and event sponsors:
