Sturgeon Bay, WI – The Door County Partnership for Children and Families is pleased to announce their Community Connections service has hit its 1-year anniversary milestone!

“This past year has been a wonderful experience. I have had the pleasure of working with some truly wonderful Door County families.”

Rebecca Nicholson, Community Connector

Community Connections offers support to families via Rebecca Nicholson, a Community Connector; who offers peer support, referrals to existing service providers and programs as appropriate, information, enrichment opportunities, social connection opportunities, and community engagement opportunities. All Door County families and caregivers of children (prenatal – 18 years or high school graduation) are eligible.

“The beauty of this service is that the support comes from someone who lives in Door County, has had similar or same life experiences, has received support from Door County service providers and who has successfully learned how to advocate for their family.”

Candis Dart, Partnership Coordinator

Currently, the Door County Partnership for Children and Families has one Community Connector on staff with the intention to add additional Community Connectors inthe future based on need.  Rebecca does not offer direct services but rather she connects families to the many resources we have here in Door County. So far, Rebecca has connected over 27 Door County families to resources.

“Being part of a family with challenges myself, I know what it’s like to really struggle. I have been waiting for an opportunity to pay it forward for the quality, non-judgmental support I have received over the years. Community Connections has given me an opportunity to accomplish that, for which I am extremely grateful.”

Rebecca Nicholson, Community Connector
